Yemen monitor / London:

A British diplomat told “Yemen monitor” on Wednesday that sanctions will be applyed by the government of Rishi Sunak on the Houthis in Yemen in the coming few days.

This was a day after the Prime Minister “Rishi Sunak” warned sympathizers with the Houthis  in his country of sanctions and accused them of glorifying “terrorism”.

He added that his government is discussing the impact of including the Houthis within the terrorism lists on the assistance provided by his country to Yemen, as well as it’s impact on trade to Yemen, which depends completely on imports for survival.

The diplomat, who preferred anonymity due to not authorized to speak to the media pointed out that his country is helping tens of thousands of Yemenis in the Houthi controlled areas, and classifying the group as a terrorist organization may lead to the suspension of this assistance.

Britain shared the United States in the second joint attack on Houthi positions in Yemen on Monday. It was the Eighth U.S. attack since January 11.

Earlier this month, the United States specifically designated the Houthi group on terrorism lists, which will take effect in 30 days.
