Explosions rock 5 Yemeni governorates

— Explosions rocked Yemen’s capital early Friday as media reports said the United States and Britain planned to launch airstrikes against the Houthi rebels who control the city.

The United States and Britain have started carrying out strikes against targets linked to Houthis in Yemen, four U.S. officials told Reuters on Thursday, the first time strikes have been launched against the Iran-backed group since it started targeting international shipping in the Red Sea late last year.

Airattacks targeted several locations in Sanaa, Hodeidah, Dhamar, Hajjah, and Saada – according to what eyewitnesses and sources told Yemen Monitor.

There have been reports of three explosions in Yemen’s capital Sana’a and raids were also conducted on several Yemeni cities in the early hours of Friday, an official from the Houthi movement said.
