Government Forces Intercept Weapon-Manufacturing Materials Shipment Bound for Houthis in Bab al-Mandab

The Giants Brigades, a military formation loyal to the Yemeni government, announced on Tuesday the interception of a boat in the Bab al-Mandab region, which it said was carrying materials and equipment used in manufacturing weapons that were on their way to the Houthi group in Hudaidah Governorate.
The Giants Brigades said in a statement that its naval patrols intercepted the boat following intelligence tracking and monitoring, arresting its crew, whom they accused of smuggling the shipment for the Houthis.
The statement added that competent authorities have begun examining and securing the contents of the shipment, noting that the details of the seized materials will be announced after the completion of investigations and legal procedures.
The operation comes at a time of increasing efforts by Yemeni government forces to strengthen surveillance over the coasts and shipping lanes in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which is considered one of the most important maritime passages in the world.
