Widespread Arab Condemnations of Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia and Calls to Deter Escalation

On Tuesday, Arab condemnations poured in against the missile attacks launched by the Houthi group—classified internationally as a terrorist organization—on the southern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with affirmations of support for the Kingdom’s security and rejection of any acts threatening regional stability.
The Arab League affirmed that the Houthi attacks constitute “cowardly terrorist acts” that are unacceptable and unjustifiable, reiterating its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, and its people, and its support for all measures taken to protect its security, sovereignty, and vital facilities.
Oman also condemned the missile threats targeting the southern region of Saudi Arabia, affirming its solidarity with the Kingdom in the measures it takes to safeguard its security and stability. It called on all Yemeni parties to exercise restraint, adhere to the truce, and resume the political process under United Nations auspices.
Qatar strongly condemned the Houthi militia’s targeting of the southern region of Saudi Arabia, deeming it a flagrant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, a breach of international law, and a threat to regional security and stability. It affirmed its full support for all measures Riyadh takes to protect its security and sovereignty.
Kuwait, for its part, denounced the missile attacks carried out by the Houthi militia against southern Saudi Arabia, describing them as a flagrant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, a breach of international law and international humanitarian law, and an escalation that undermines regional security and stability. It reiterated its standing with the Kingdom.
Bahrain also condemned the missile attacks launched by the Houthi militia on the southern region of Saudi Arabia, considering them a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of international law. It affirmed its full support for the Kingdom in confronting anything that threatens its security and stability.
Jordan affirmed its condemnation of the missile attack carried out by the Houthi militia, considering it a blatant violation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and a threat to its security, stability, and territorial integrity. It reiterated its solidarity with Riyadh and its support for the measures taken to protect its security.
In the same context, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the attack targeting Saudi Arabia, stressing that the Kingdom’s security and stability are an integral part of Arab national security, and that any infringement on its sovereignty constitutes a threat to collective Arab security.
Earlier on Monday, the official spokesman for the Coalition Forces—the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen—Major General Turki Al-Malki, clarified that Saudi air defenses dealt with a new missile threat launched by the terrorist Houthi militia toward the southern region of the Kingdom. He added that the air defense forces handled the attack in accordance with standard procedures.
