For the First Time Since 2015… Government Delegation Arrives in Sana’a to Investigate the Fate of “Qahtan”

Yemen Monitor / Marib / Exclusive:
Sources told “Yemen Monitor” that representatives of the internationally recognized Yemeni government arrived in Sana’a on Wednesday, as part of the committee investigating the fate of the prominent politician, Mohammed Qahtan, who has been forcibly disappeared in Houthi prisons since 2015.
The sources spoke to “Yemen Monitor” on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media, stating that the armed Houthi group had obstructed the arrival of government representatives in the relevant four-party committee tasked with investigating Qahtan’s fate until today—just three days before the scheduled start of the prisoner exchange deal implementation on July 11.
The sources added that the government representatives arrived in the Yemeni capital accompanied by a team from the Red Cross Committee, noting that the committee is scheduled to begin its work within the coming hours.
The exchange deal is scheduled to result in the release of 1,680 prisoners and abductees, including 1,100 affiliated with the Houthi group and 580 belonging to the Yemeni government and the Arab Coalition.
The operation will begin on July 11 with a first reciprocal flight between Aden and Sana’a, followed on the second day by a second flight between Sana’a and the West Coast—which is controlled by the forces of Presidential Leadership Council member Tariq Saleh—while the flight on the third and final day will be between Marib and Sana’a.
