Chinese Scholarship to Train Yemeni Translators Between Arabic and Chinese

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Beijing announced an opportunity for Yemeni students and graduates to apply for the 2026 project to prepare Arabic translators to and from the Chinese language. The project is implemented in cooperation between the Chinese side and the Arab League, with the aim of training specialized Arab cadres in translation between the Arabic and Chinese languages.

The Attaché explained that the program provides a full scholarship for one academic year at Shanghai International Studies University, one of the most prominent academic institutions specializing in languages and international studies in China.

The organizing body set a number of conditions for application, most notably that the applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, must not exceed 30 years of age, and must hold an HSK5 certificate or its equivalent in the Chinese language.

The Attaché indicated that the organizing body is currently working to coordinate with the Chinese side to extend the registration period, due to the delay in circulating the program, which would grant interested individuals an additional opportunity to complete their application procedures.

The Attaché called on interested students and graduates to review the admission guide and complete the registration procedures directly through the organizing body according to the approved instructions, emphasizing that the program represents an excellent opportunity to develop linguistic and academic skills and to build specialized Yemeni cadres in translation and cultural communication between the Arab world and China.
