Taiz Police Announce Arrest of Second Wanted Suspect in Assassination Case of Government Official

The police of Taiz governorate (southwestern Yemen) announced on Monday the arrest of the second wanted suspect in the crime of assassinating Iftehan Al-Mashhari, the director of the Cleaning Fund.

The Security Media Center in Taiz explained that the driver of the motorcycle used by the direct perpetrator in the assassination of the martyr Iftehan Al-Mashhari is now in the custody of security forces, noting that he is the second wanted suspect in the case.

The Security Media Center also indicated that the primary suspect in the Al-Mashhari case, named “Mohammed Sadiq,” had been killed earlier while resisting security authorities and attempting to flee.

It is worth noting that the assassination incident occurred on September 19, 2025, sparking a wave of public outrage. Security agencies were able to identify the perpetrator and pursue him until he was killed during clashes with security forces on the 24th of the same month.
