Pro-UAE Bloc in Presidential Council Rejects President Al-Alimi’s Decisions

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Members of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC)—Major General Aidarus al-Zoubaidi, Major General Abu Zara’a al-Mahrami, Major General Faraj al-Bahsani, and Lieutenant General Tariq Saleh—issued a joint statement expressing their grave concern regarding the measures taken by President Rashad al-Alimi.
This rejection comes following the declaration of a state of emergency, the issuance of serious political and security designations, and the claim of expelling the United Arab Emirates from the Arab Coalition and Yemeni territory.
The statement alleged that these measures are illegal, noting that they are in explicit violation of the Power Transfer Declaration, which defines the Presidential Leadership Council as a collective body that must reach its decisions through consensus or a majority vote.
It added that any decisions made outside of this collective framework lack constitutional and legal basis, holding those who issued them fully responsible for the consequences.
Regarding the Arab Coalition and the UAE, the statement emphasized that no individual or entity has the authority to expel a country from the Coalition, considering it a matter governed by international agreements.
The statement praised the UAE’s pivotal role in confronting the Houthis, highlighting its sacrifices and its contribution to:
- Liberating extensive territories.
- Building military and security capabilities.
- Protecting maritime navigation.
- Combating terrorism.
The members warned of the dangers of using state institutions to settle internal or regional political scores. They characterized this as a “deviation” that undermines national, regional, and international trust and opens the door to division and chaos.
The members reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of partnership and collective action, rejecting any unilateral decisions that plunge Yemen into confrontations, target its allies, or undermine the Arab Coalition.
The statement concluded by holding those taking these paths responsible for the political, legal, security, and economic repercussions, calling for a correction of the course by returning to consensus to avoid a total collapse.
