Yemeni President: Armed Forces’ Vigilance Is a Strong Barrier Against Houthi Escalation

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Yemeni Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, held a phone call with council member Tareq Saleh to receive an update on the latest battlefield developments along the western coast, following the repelling of a Houthi attack by National Resistance Forces south of Al-Hudaidah Governorate.

According to Yemen’s state-run SABA News Agency, Tareq Saleh briefed Al-Alimi on the recent clashes, stating that National Resistance Forces had thwarted an attempted Houthi infiltration into forward positions and forced the attackers to withdraw after inflicting casualties on them.

Al-Alimi praised what he described as the high level of vigilance and combat readiness demonstrated by the National Resistance Forces and other military formations deployed across various front lines. He said this readiness serves as “a strong barrier” against what he called Houthi plans to undermine the country’s security and stability.

The chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council stressed the need to maintain the highest level of military preparedness and strengthen coordination among all military units to preserve unity across the front lines and prevent any further escalation.

Military sources reported that around 15 members of the Joint Forces were killed in heavy fighting early Saturday in the Jabal Dabbas area east of Hays District in Al Hudaidah. The same sources also claimed that Houthi forces suffered significant casualties after being driven from positions they had briefly captured during several hours of intense and surprise fighting.
