National Army Soldier Killed by Houthi Sniper Fire in Taiz

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

A soldier from the National Army’s 22nd Mika Brigade was killed today, Saturday, while performing his duties on one of the fronts in Taiz, in an incident reflecting the continuing targeting of the army by Houthi elements.

Military sources clarified that Zakaria Abdullah Abdo Al-Athwari was targeted by a Houthi sniper while he was on the front lines, leading to his immediate death. This makes him the third casualty from the same brigade within a single week.

The incident underscores an escalation in attacks launched by the Houthis against government forces in Taiz province. This poses a significant challenge to efforts aimed at securing control over disputed areas, amid the persistent conflict between the two sides.
