The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) announced the launch of a climate awareness campaign aimed at enhancing environmental protection in Socotra Governorate.
This initiative is a collaboration with the Environment Protection Authority in Socotra and local partners, according to a post by the FAO on its X platform account.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about the environmental and climate issues facing the island, and to support the governorate’s efforts to preserve its unique natural resources.
It also seeks to enhance the participation of the local community in confronting environmental challenges and adapting to climate change.
The FAO stated that the cooperation with local authorities reflects the organization’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and protecting biodiversity in sensitive areas like Socotra Island.
This step comes within the framework of international efforts to enhance climate response at the local level.
