Brigadier General Abdo Abdullah Al-Mikhlafi, the commander of the 22nd Infantry Brigade in the Yemeni Army, survived an assassination attempt, while his escort was killed, this evening, Monday, east of Marib (eastern Yemen).
Private sources told “Yemen Monitor” that Brigadier General Al-Mikhlafi came under heavy gunfire from unknown assailants while driving his “Hilux” vehicle in the Al-Ruwaiq area, located east of Marib governorate on the border with Hadramout governorate.
The sources reported that Al-Mikhlafi sustained minor injuries, and the accompanying soldier, who was his “personal driver,” was killed, while the armed men fled.
