The Cry of The Mothers of The Kidnapped Crosses The Seas… “Save Our Sons Before Oblivion Engulfs Them”

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Abductees’ Mothers Association launched an intensive campaign under the slogan “Save the Abductees,” directing urgent messages to the embassies of the Netherlands, France, and the United Kingdom. Through this step, the association aims to urge the three countries to intensify their diplomatic efforts to end the suffering of the abductees in Yemen and secure their immediate and unconditional release.

In its official messages, the association affirmed that the continued detention of the abductees constitutes a grave violation of human dignity and obstructs efforts to achieve peace in Yemen. It stressed that the humanitarian file of the abductees can no longer tolerate further delay or neglect, calling on the international community to take its responsibilities seriously.

The association’s demands included the necessity of exerting intensive pressure on the concerned parties for the immediate release of the arbitrarily detained and disappeared, while supporting their rights to freedom and dignity. It also called for raising the issue of the abductees and the forcibly disappeared in the international forums in which the governments of the three countries participate, with the aim of shedding light on the suffering of the abductees and their families.

The association added the importance of supporting international accountability mechanisms to hold those responsible for human rights violations in Yemen accountable, to ensure justice and prevent impunity. It also stressed the necessity of including the issue of the abductees as an urgent humanitarian priority in any future peace negotiations supported or participated in by the Netherlands, France, and Britain.

These demands come amidst the increasing violations against civilians in Yemen, where the issues of the abductees continue to constitute a deep humanitarian wound that hinders stability and peace efforts, according to local and international human rights sources.
