Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan met today with Zahra Langhi, Senior Advisor at the UN Envoy’s Office for Inclusion, Women, Peace, and Security, and her accompanying delegation to discuss peacebuilding efforts, inclusivity, and women’s empowerment in the governorate.

During the meeting, Governor Shamsan reviewed the local authority’s efforts to support women’s participation in decision-making and peace processes, highlighting the government’s attention to women-led initiatives and legal action taken against those involved in the recent attack on Iftihan Al-Mashhari, Director of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund.

The discussions also addressed the ongoing blockade and the urgent need to reopen roads connecting Taiz city with surrounding areas—an essential humanitarian and developmental priority aimed at easing residents’ suffering and revitalizing economic and social activity.
