Yemeni Presidential Council Member Sultan al-Aradah Reaffirms Support for Judicial Independence

Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council member Maj. Gen. Sultan al-Aradah on Thursday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the independence of the judiciary and enhancing its efficiency.
Al-Aradah met at Al-Maashiq Palace in the interim capital Aden with Supreme Judicial Council Chairman Judge Mohsen Yahya Taleb, Supreme Court chief Justice Ali Ahmed al-Awsh, and Justice Minister Judge Badr al-Aradah. The talks focused on a range of issues concerning judicial performance.
The meeting discussed ways to improve the skills of judicial staff, modernize administrative and technical systems, and strengthen coordination among state institutions to safeguard the independence of the judiciary and ensure the enforcement of rulings.
Al-Aradah stressed the leadership’s determination to support the judiciary and enable it to carry out its duties with independence and integrity, highlighting the central role of the Supreme Judicial Council and related bodies in upholding justice, equality, and citizens’ rights.
He also called for greater cooperation among state institutions to build public trust in the judiciary and reinforce the rule of law.
For their part, the judicial leaders and justice minister outlined ongoing efforts to upgrade the judicial system, including modernizing administrative mechanisms, integrating new technologies to improve public access and performance, and intensifying work to expedite cases and address existing challenges in line with judicial procedures.
