Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Yemeni U-23 Olympic team was eliminated from the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers this evening after a one-to-nil loss to host nation Vietnam in the final match of the group stage.
Yemen’s campaign began with a valuable 2-1 victory over Singapore, followed by another 1-0 win against Bangladesh. However, their single loss to Vietnam meant they exited the competition with six points.
During the post-match press conference, the team’s coach, Captain Amin Al-Sunaini, expressed satisfaction with the players’ performance despite the difficult circumstances in Yemen. He emphasized that the team played a strong game and created clear scoring opportunities, but the Vietnamese team capitalized on their home-field advantage and a supportive crowd to secure the win with a surprising goal.
