The primary prosecution offices in Lawdar and Ja’ar carried out a joint field campaign this morning targeting money exchange shops, pharmacies, commercial stores, and bakeries in Lawdar and Khanfir districts of Abyan governorate, as part of efforts to curb violations and protect the stability of the financial sector as well as the health and safety of citizens.
In Lawdar, the campaign inspected 14 money exchange shops, finding that only seven were operating with official licenses, while the other seven were functioning illegally. These were shut down and referred for legal action, according to the public prosecution.
In Ja’ar, several pharmacies, shops, and bakeries were found in violation of legal requirements and were closed as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight and ensure compliance across commercial and health sectors.
The campaigns were carried out under the directives of Judge Hussein Al-Taheri, head of the Abyan Appeals Prosecution, and supervised by prosecutors in Lawdar and Ja’ar, with the participation of security leaders and representatives from the Central Bank, and the local offices of Health, Industry and Trade, and Public Works.
The public prosecution affirmed that these measures fall within its ongoing efforts to ensure adherence to laws, protect the national economy, and safeguard citizens from violations and unlawful practices.
