Public Prosecution in Aden Forms Field Committee to Monitor Traders’ Compliance with Price Reductions

Under the directives of Attorney General Judge Qaher Mustafa Ali, and supervised by the Head of the Appeals Prosecution for South Aden, Judge Waddah Bathaib, the Deputy Prosecutor for Security and Investigation in Aden, Judge Bassam Ghalib Ali, chaired a meeting on Friday to discuss the formation of a field committee. The committee will visit major traders and importers to ensure their compliance with reducing prices of food and consumer goods in line with the recent improvement in the national currency’s exchange rate.
The meeting reviewed the mechanism of the monitoring teams and their responsibilities in following up on traders’ adherence to official pricing, stressing that violators will be held accountable and referred to the competent prosecution.
Representatives from the Public Prosecution, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as officials from slaughterhouses, poultry farms, the central vegetable market, and Shihab Company, participated in the meeting.
Judge Bassam Ghalib emphasized the necessity for traders and importers to comply with approved prices for foodstuffs, vegetables, meat, poultry, and fish. He confirmed that monitoring campaigns will be conducted daily, and violators will be directly referred to the Industry Prosecution for strict legal action.
The meeting also addressed challenges facing market monitoring and revealed that the Ministry of Industry plans to launch an electronic platform dedicated to receiving citizens’ complaints and reports across all liberated governorates, in order to enhance commercial oversight, protect consumers, and ensure quick response to complaints.
