Military Source Denies Release of Tribal Sheikh Mohammed Al-Zaidi in Al-Mahra
Yemen Monitor/Al-Mahra/Exclusive:
A military source within Al-Ghaydah axis command in Al-Mahra governorate denied the accuracy of reports circulated by local media regarding the release of tribal Sheikh Mohammed Ahmed Al-Zaidi, who is close to the Houthi group.
The source told a “Yemen Monitor” correspondent that Al-Zaidi remains in custody with the governorate’s security department. The circulated information about an agreement for his release and his travel to Oman for medical treatment is “baseless and has no foundation in reality.”
Previous reports had indicated Al-Zaidi’s release following tribal mediation and an undisclosed agreement with local authorities. This agreement reportedly included his travel for treatment in exchange for guarantees from his family and the completion of his trial at a later date.
It’s worth noting that Al-Zaidi was previously detained while attempting to leave the country through the Sarfait border crossing, reportedly in possession of a diplomatic passport suspected of being forged and issued by Houthi authorities.
The military source confirmed that Al-Zaidi remains under detention, and the relevant authorities are continuing to take necessary legal action against him.
