The Hadramout Tribal Alliance announced that Brigadier General Al-Juweid Salmeen Barshid, commander of the First Brigade of the Hadramout Protection Forces, survived an assassination attempt on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred as he was leaving Friday prayers at the Al-Ulaib complex in Ghayl Bin Yameen district.
A responsible source within the Hadramout Protection Forces command confirmed that the assailant fired a barrage of bullets at the brigade commander, resulting in the death of one of his escorts in the incident.
The source indicated that First Brigade forces immediately deployed and cordoned off the scene. They conducted an hours-long pursuit operation that culminated in the arrest of the perpetrator, who has been handed over to the relevant security agencies for investigation.
The forces’ command expressed its condolences to the family of the fallen officer, while also confirming the safety of Brigadier General Barshid. They pledged to pursue everyone involved in this criminal act.
