Young Yemeni Man Arrested in Germany on Charges of Affiliation with Houthis

The German Federal Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of a young Yemeni man named “Hussein H.” in the town of Dachau in southern Germany, on suspicion of belonging to the Iran-backed Houthi group and involvement in terrorist activities.

In a statement released on Thursday, the federal prosecution said the detainee joined the Houthis in October 2022, where he received intensive military and ideological training affiliated with the group.

The statement also indicated that the suspect took part in combat alongside the Houthis in Yemen’s Marib province during the early months of 2023, before relocating to Germany.

He faces charges of membership in a “terrorist organization,” while German authorities continue their investigations to uncover the full extent of his alleged activities and network of connections.
