Yemen Monitor / Sanaa / Exclusive:

Sources in Sanaa said that more than 20 killed and wounded from the Houthi government—unrecognized internationally—fell in the Israeli bombing last Thursday.

The Houthis announced on Saturday the death of the head of their government, Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi, along with a number of ministers, but they did not specify which ministers were killed.

Government sources and families of victims said that at least 10 ministers were killed in the attacks, in addition to others wounded. The list is as follows:

  • Jamal Amer, Minister of Foreign Affairs
  • Hashem Sharaf Al-Din, Minister of Information
  • Mohammed Al-Muwlad, Minister of Youth and Sports
  • Ali Saif Mohammed Hassan, Minister of Electricity, Energy and Water
  • Mujahid Ahmed Abdullah Ali, Minister of Justice and Human Rights
  • Mohammed Al-Madani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration and Rural Development
  • Radwan Ali Ali Al-Rubaie, Minister of Agriculture
  • Ali Qasim Al-Yafei, Minister of Culture
  • Samir Baja’alah, Minister of Social Affairs
  • Moeen Al-Muhaqri, Minister of Trade and Industry

Sources told Yemen Monitor that there were other casualties who were present at a cabinet meeting in a house that was bombed, among them “Deputy Minister of Interior in the Houthi government Abdul Majeed Al-Murtadha, and Director of the Minister of Defense’s Office, responsible for war operations, Sakhr Al-Sharqabi.”

The Houthis said the meeting was discussing the government’s achievements over the past year.

Sources had said that Minister of Transport Mohammed Quhaim was killed in the attack, but a family source told Yemen Monitor that he is alive but remains in intensive care at a hospital in Sanaa receiving treatment. Also receiving treatment, according to the sources, is Hassan Al-Sa’adi, Minister of Education.

Medical sources said the Houthis transferred wounded to public and private hospitals in Sanaa. Eyewitnesses said Houthi forces are deployed across most of the southern neighborhoods of the capital, Sanaa.
