Yemen Monitor/ Newsroom

The National Meteorological Center predicted today, Saturday, that thunderstorms are expected to continue in several provinces.

It said that varying intensity thunderstorms, some of them heavy, are expected to lead to the flow of floods on deserts and plateaus of the provinces (Shabwah, Hadramout, Al-Mahra) and the provinces (Sana’a, Raymah, Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz, Al-Dhalea, Lahij highlands, Abyan, Al-Bayda, Marib, and Al-Jawf).

It also expected scattered showers of varying intensity accompanied by thunder at times in parts of the provinces (Amran, Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, and Saada), including the southern and eastern coastal areas in general and the adjacent inland areas.

Citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall were warned of floods in valleys and advised not to cross them or be present in their watercourses.

Citizens were also warned of lightning strikes and advised to take necessary precautions to avoid them in order to protect their lives and properties, in addition paying attention to rocks and mudslides due to the continued rainfall.

People were cautioned about reduced horizontal visibility due to rain, low clouds or fog, and mist, as well as strong winds coming down from cumulonimbus clouds and hail showers.

It urged relevant authorities, according to their location and specialization, to take necessary measures to protect lives and properties.
