A Child killed in explosion of an explosive device in western Marib

A fifteen-year-old child was killed on Saturday as a result of an explosion of an explosive device in one of the towns in Marib Governorate (northeastern Yemen)

The Yemen Mine Action Observatory (non-governmental) stated in a post on”X”, that “a child was killed as a result of an explosion of an explosive device, that was found near their house in the village of Rahab in the district of Sarwah in western Marib Governorate.”

According to the Observatory, the deceased child is named “Abdulmalik Abdullah Abu Zeid Al-Zaydi, 15 years old.”

This incident comes two days after three sibling children were injured as a result of the explosion of a warhead in “Al-Zubairiyat” area in the district of Qa’atubah in Al-Dhale Governorate in central Yemen.

In its latest statistics, the Yemen Mine Action Observatory revealed that 41 civilians were killed by mine explosions in various areas of the country since the beginning of 2024.

In July of last year, the International Committee of the Red Cross warned that unexploded remnants (mines) threaten millions of Yemenis.
