Three passengers were killed and four others were seriously injured, yesterday, Monday, as a result of a Houthi landmine explosion in Al-Jawf Governorate, northern Yemen.

Local sources said that “three passengers returning from Saudi Arabia to Yemen were killed, and four others were injured, due to the explosion of a Houthi landmine in the car that was carrying them on Al-Yatamah desert road in the governorate.”

“Some of the passengers were returning after doing Umrah, and others were on their way to spend Eid vacation with their families,” they explained.

Yemeni travelers to Saudi Arabia, whether expatriates or those going for pilgrimage or Umrah, are exposed to horrific and fatal traffic accidents from time to time, on the desert road in Al-Jawf Governorate, due to the Houthis’ refusal to open the paved road linking Marib, Al-Jawf and Sana’a.”
