Member of the Yemeni Presidential Council Abdullah Al-Alimi: Houthi Operations in the Red Sea are “a purely Iranian Agenda”

Abdullah Al-Alimi, a member of the Presidential Council in Yemen, stated that Houthi operations in the Red Sea are a ” purely Iranian agenda and cheap exploitation of the Gaza’s residents suffer.”

It was during his attendance at a Ramadan banquet attended by media institutions, journalists, intellectuals, and Yemeni activists, according to the official Yemeni news agency.

Al-Alimi emphasized the “need to distinguish between the position of Yemen and all Yemenis in supporting the Palestinian cause, and the practices of the Houthis in the Red Sea that show the Iranian agenda.”

He said, “We stand with Palestine, and no one can outdo the Yemeni people when it comes to Palestine.”

Al-Alimi stressed “the importance of joining efforts, supporting the government’s efforts to move forward with economic reforms, enhancing transparency, combating corruption, working together to strengthen state institutions, and supporting local authorities in meeting the needs of the people.”

He explained that the media and cultural front is no different from the military front, if not more important, in facing a real challenge related to awareness.”

Regarding progress in the political process, a member of the Presidential Council confirmed that “the Houthis can only live in an atmosphere of war, and cannot coexist peacefully with society(….).”

In this regard, he said, “We cannot betray the pure blood that has been shed for the sake of a false peace. We are in favor of a just and lasting peace that preserves the dignity, freedom, state institutions, and equality of all people under the law, secures their right of expression, freedom, and political participation, and guarantees every citizen complete rights.”

He emphasized the seriousness of the Yemeni legitimacy in dealing with all efforts to establish peace at all stages, “a peace based on the references the Yemeni people have fought to protect.”
