Al-Aradah Demands Greater International Action to Pressure the Houthis and Put an End to Their Threats

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Member Sultan al-Aradah stated that what he described as the Houthi group’s continued intransigence and its threats to regional security and maritime navigation represent the most prominent obstacle to efforts aimed at ending the conflict in Yemen. He called on the international community to exert more pressure to push the group toward complying with international resolutions.
Al-Aradah’s remarks came during his meeting on Thursday in Marib Governorate with the Ambassador of the EU to Yemen, Patrick Simonnet, and the Ambassador of the Netherlands, Jeannette Seppen. During the meeting, both sides discussed political, economic, and humanitarian developments in the country, as well as ways to enhance cooperation between Yemen and its international partners.
Al-Aradah said that the Yemeni government seeks to continue implementing economic and administrative reforms and to strengthen the presence of state institutions, in tandem with efforts aimed at mitigating the repercussions of the humanitarian crisis, which has been exacerbated by years of war.
He also called for increasing international support directed toward the government and economic recovery programs, considering that strengthening the capabilities of government institutions and improving basic services represent an important pillar for achieving long-term stability.
He pointed out the importance of expanding sustainable development programs and gradually transitioning from an emergency humanitarian response to developmental projects that contribute to creating economic opportunities and enhancing the resilience of local communities in facing challenges.
For their part, the EU Ambassador and the Dutch Ambassador affirmed their countries’ continued support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government, including humanitarian aid programs, development projects, and capacity building, reaffirming their commitment to supporting efforts aimed at enhancing stability and improving living conditions in Yemen.
