Yemeni Defense Minister Discusses Combat Readiness of Units with 8th Military Region Leadership

Yemeni Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Taher Al-Uqayli, discussed on Sunday in Aden with the leadership of the 8th Military Region the field situation and the level of operational readiness of the units within the region’s theater.

In the meeting, which was attended by the Governor of Al-Dhale’e and Commander of the Al-Dhale’e Axis, Major General Ahmed Al-Qubba, the Defense Minister listened to a briefing presented by the Commander of the 8th Military Region, Major General Hadi Al-Awlaqi. The briefing covered the progress of implementing field tasks in the theater of operations, in addition to the most prominent needs and challenges facing the region’s units.

Minister Al-Uqayli praised the heroism and sacrifices made by the personnel and officers of the 8th Military Region in confronting the Houthi group, stressing the Ministry’s keenness to harness available capabilities to meet the requirements of fighters across various confrontation fronts.

The Defense Minister stressed the necessity of doubling efforts, raising the level of vigilance and combat readiness, and enhancing joint coordination among various military units. He also emphasized the importance of military discipline and adherence to rules and regulations to ensure the efficient and capable execution of tasks.

The 8th Military Region in the Yemeni Army was established under decrees issued by the Head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, in May 2025.

The region’s theater of operations is located in three governorates in central Yemen: Ibb, Dhamar, and Al-Bayda, following its separation from the theater of operations of the 7th Military Region.
