Release of Islah Party Leader in Mokha Hours After His Arrest

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Forces affiliated with Yemeni Presidential Council member Tariq Saleh released Omar Doublah, a leader of the Islah Party in Taiz Governorate (southwestern Yemen), on Saturday evening, hours after his arrest.

Local sources said that the Criminal Investigation Department in Mokha—a district under the administration of military and security forces loyal to Tariq Saleh—arrested the head of the Islah Party branch in Mokha district and commander of the popular resistance, Omar Doublah, before releasing him a few hours after his detention.

The sources stated that the arrest came against the backdrop of posts on his Facebook account, in which he criticized the absence of electricity in the Mokha district amid rising summer temperatures, demanding the provision of official government electricity instead of providing the service through a commercial company whose prices have devastated the citizens.
