Hadramawt Security Announces Recovery of “Looted” Weapons and Ammunition from Camps

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Security forces, supported by the army in Mukalla, the capital of Hadramawt Governorate (eastern Yemen), seized quantities of heavy weapons, ammunition, and “mortar” shell bases.

The Director of Hadramawt Coast Security, Brigadier General Abdulaziz Al-Jabri, explained that a joint campaign by the security and army managed to seize heavy weapons as part of efforts to track “looted” weapons and stabilize the region. He confirmed that security agencies continue to pursue smugglers and everyone seeking to destabilize the governorate’s security.

For his part, the Director of Mukalla Security, Colonel Salah Al-Mashjari, indicated that the seizure took place following precise investigation operations, confirming that the seized items are being held and legal procedures have begun to refer the suspects to the Public Prosecution.

During the past months, security and army forces in Mukalla have managed to seize large quantities of weapons and ammunition that were looted from army camps during the chaos that followed the withdrawal of Transitional Council forces from Hadramawt, during the process of taking over the camps launched by Yemeni government forces.
