The General Authority for Environmental Protection in the Socotra Archipelago organized a celebratory event on the occasion of National Environment Day, under the auspices of the Minister of Water and Environment and in cooperation with the Socotra Wildlife Society.
The Director General of the Environmental Protection Authority, Mr. Salem Hawash, emphasized the importance of celebrating this day, noting the vital role of the environment in achieving sustainable development in Yemen. He highlighted the unique ecological status of Socotra, which requires concerted efforts from both official authorities and the local community to ensure its protection.
The event included an awareness lecture targeting women interested in environmental affairs, shedding light on the essential role of women as partners in raising future generations and promoting positive environmental behaviors within the family and society.
This celebration is part of the Environmental Protection Authority’s plan to strengthen community partnership and spread environmental awareness. It aims to conserve biodiversity and protect the unique natural resources that characterize the Socotra Archipelago, reflecting the commitment of relevant authorities to environmental preservation and the support of sustainable development.
