Mahmoud al-Subaihi and Salem al-Khanbashi Appointed as Members of the Presidential Leadership Council

The Head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), Rashad al-Alimi, issued Decree No. (4) of 2026 today, Thursday, appointing Lieutenant General Mahmoud Ahmed Salem al-Subaihi and Dr. Salem Ahmed Saeed al-Khanbashi as members of the Presidential Leadership Council.
The decision follows the vacancy of the seats previously held by Aidarous al-Zoubaidi, who was referred to the Attorney General on charges of high treason, and Faraj Salmin al-Bahsani, due to proven permanent health disability, according to previous Council minutes.
The decree stipulates that al-Khanbashi will continue in his current role as the Governor of Hadramout. The decision is effective immediately upon issuance and is to be published in the Official Gazette.
