Intensive Monitoring Campaigns in Aden to Combat Price Hikes

State Minister and Governor of Aden, Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, has directed executive agencies and industry and trade offices in the districts to intensify field and monitoring campaigns to hold violators and price manipulators accountable. This aims to ensure the stability of the supply and living conditions for citizens.
During a meeting held today with the attendance of the Secretary-General of the Local Council, Badr Muawen, and the directors general of the districts and the Industry and Trade Office, Lamlas emphasized that consumer protection is a shared national responsibility. He stressed the need to activate the monitoring role, enforce laws against violators, and enhance coordination between relevant authorities to prevent monopolistic practices or manipulation of essential goods.
The meeting discussed updates on the supply situation and ways to enhance market monitoring in light of the recent price increases of some essential commodities, as well as price manipulation phenomena in the health, pharmaceutical, and private school sectors.
It also emphasized the importance of correcting imbalances and developing monitoring mechanisms to protect consumers from exploitation.
The Director of the Industry and Trade Office in Aden, Waseem Al-Amri, presented an overview of the plan and working mechanisms for price control, including the main challenges faced by field monitoring teams, along with a number of solutions and measures aimed at enhancing monitoring effectiveness and improving field performance.
