Yemeni Interior Minister: Houthis’ Gradual Disclosure of Their Casualties Is a Sign of Weakness — They Fear Internal Collapse

Yemen Monitor / Riyadh / Exclusive:

Yemeni Interior Minister Major General Ibrahim Haidan stated that the Houthis’ gradual announcement of the killing of their military and civilian leaders, including Chief of Staff Mohammed al-Ghamari, clearly indicates the group’s state of weakness and fear of internal collapse.

In a televised interview with Al-Hadath Channel on Sunday, followed by Yemen Monitor, Haidan explained that the Houthi group realizes that announcing the full extent of their losses immediately and transparently could cause severe confusion and potential breakdown within their internal ranks.

He noted that this step-by-step disclosure of the names of targeted figures from within the Houthi leadership hierarchy aims to “reorganize their internal ranks” and prevent sudden disintegration.

The Interior Minister further pointed out that relations between Houthi factions are governed by mutual interests, and that internal rivalries have recently emerged among Houthi formations — making any significant strike against their leadership a serious threat to the group’s cohesion.

Haidan added, “Therefore, the partial and delayed announcements of casualties serve as a tactic to absorb the shock and avoid major turmoil that would not only affect the areas under their control but also the top echelons of the Houthi movement.”

Earlier this month, the Houthis had announced the death of their Chief of Staff, his son, and several of his escorts.
