National Congress in Socotra Condemns Dismissal of 800 Soldiers, Demands Payment of Delayed Salaries

The National Congress in Socotra issued a strongly worded statement condemning the actions that led to the dismissal of over 800 soldiers after they completed a three-month training program in Saudi Arabia.
The statement noted that the dismissed soldiers gathered on Monday, September 15, 2025, in front of the local government headquarters to demand their delayed salaries, sparking widespread public discontent in the archipelago.
The congress described these actions as “irresponsible” and a threat to the security and stability of Socotra. It warned that if the crisis is not addressed promptly, it could lead to the outbreak of serious social crises.
The statement called on the relevant authorities to take their legal and moral responsibilities seriously and work to pay the outstanding salaries to the dismissed soldiers. It emphasized the urgent need to resolve the crisis immediately to maintain security and stability in the archipelago.
Finally, the National Congress urged all parties to cooperate to end this crisis in a way that protects social peace and political stability in Socotra.
