Saudi Arabia Supports “Comprehensive Reforms” of the Yemeni Government
Yemen Monitor / Aden / Exclusive:
The Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al Jaber, on Sunday reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for the comprehensive reforms led by Yemen’s internationally recognized government. This came during his meeting with the Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi.
The Yemeni News Agency (SABA) reported that Ambassador Mohammed Al Jaber reiterated “the Kingdom’s continued support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, and the efforts of comprehensive reforms, in a manner that achieves security, peace, stability, and development in Yemen.”
Al-Alimi praised “the sincere efforts and brotherly stances of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in standing by the Yemeni people and its political leadership at various stages and under different circumstances, and its genuine commitment to alleviating their suffering and supporting their aspirations to restore state institutions, security, stability, and development.”
Weeks earlier, the Yemeni government and the Central Bank of Yemen began implementing measures to protect the national currency, which led to an increase in its value. The bank also shut down dozens of exchange companies and shops in government-controlled areas.
