STC Restructures its Leadership

On Thursday, the president of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) issued several decisions to restructure the council’s leadership and merge many of its bodies.

These adjustments to the STC’s structure came days after its president, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, returned from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Nasser Al-Khubaji was replaced from the Political Body and added to the STC’s Presidential Body, with Anis Al-Sharafi appointed in his place. Ali Al-Kathiri was appointed as Secretary-General of the Presidential Body. Abdulrahman Jalal Shaher Al-Subaihi was named Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Presidential Body, and Nizar Nasser Ali Haitham as Deputy Secretary-General.

Other appointments include:

  • Mohammed Ahmed Al-Shaqi – Assistant Secretary-General for Governorate Affairs
  • Huda Mahdi Al-Sayed Mohammed – Head of the Planning, Organization, and Capacity Development Authority
  • Abdulaziz Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh – Head of the Media and Culture Authority
  • Jaafar Mohammed Hussein Munieam – Head of the Economic and Services Authority
  • Khaled Mohsen Ali Al-Khulaifi – Head of the Education, Youth, and Sports Authority
  • Mukhtar Omar Saleh Al-Yafei – Head of the Social Affairs Authority
  • Saleh Sareea Ali Basardah – Head of the Legal Affairs and Human Rights Authority
  • Niran Hassan Ali Sawqi – Head of the Women and Child Authority

Other officials were appointed as deputies and officials within the various bodies.

A second decision details the restructuring of the STC by merging various auxiliary bodies and departments under the General Secretariat into new organizational units.
