Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Chairman of Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, welcomed the agreement reached today for the release of 1,750 detainees, describing it as the largest exchange operation within the framework of the state’s commitments to resolve this humanitarian issue.

The Yemeni president described the agreement as “a moment of joy and hope” ahead of the blessed Eid al-Adha holiday and “a renewed opportunity to prioritize humanitarian and religious values, reunite families, and end suffering.”

Al-Alimi expressed his gratitude for the pivotal role played by Saudi Arabia in achieving this accomplishment.

The president also praised the efforts of the Office of the UN Special Envoy, as well as the brotherly countries of Jordan and Oman, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the government negotiating team, and everyone who contributed to what he described as this historic agreement.

Earlier on Thursday, the government delegation negotiating the detainees file announced that an agreement had been reached to release around 1,750 detainees from various parties, including 27 members of the Arab Coalition forces.
