The Chairman of Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, discussed with Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh on Saturday ways to enhance security cooperation in the Red Sea region and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, amid increasing challenges facing international navigation.

According to the official Yemeni news agency, the meeting, which was attended by member of the Presidential Leadership Council, General Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, focused on coordinating positions regarding threats targeting the security of international navigation, counter-terrorism, and organized crime.

Al-Alimi praised the stability enjoyed by Djibouti, appreciating its role in hosting UN mechanisms related to the Yemeni file and facilitating conditions for the Yemeni community there.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations and their development, including activating the joint Yemeni-Djiboutian committee and developing economic and security ties between the two countries.

The two presidents discussed the situation in the Horn of Africa, with Al-Alimi commending Djibouti’s role in supporting Somalia’s stability. Both sides also stressed the need to continue close consultation to address common regional challenges.
