A new Houthi weapons were destroyed in the Red Sea, a report by the U.S. military

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated on Wednesday that the U.S. military and coalition forces destroyed a drone and a surface unmanned ship launched by the Yemeni Houthi group in the Red Sea.

The U.S. Central Command wrote: “On March 20, a coalition aircraft successfully engaged with and destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), as well as the United States Central Command successfully engaged with and destroyed an unmanned surface vessel launched from areas controlled by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.”

It added that there were no injuries or damages to the U.S. ships or coalition forces.

The U.S. Central Command also stated that it determined the weapons represented an “imminent threat” to U.S. Navy ships and commercial vessels in the region.

It further added that “these actions were taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S. Navy ships and other commercial vessels.
