Yemeni Presidential Council Moves Internationally to Support Its Strict Steps to Protect Sovereignty

Yemen Monitor/ Newsroom:
The Head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, confirmed that the Republic of Yemen will not, in the future, allow any foreign aircraft to enter or land at any Yemeni airport without prior and direct approval from the legitimate government.
During his meeting on Thursday with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America to Yemen, Jonathan Peccia, he discussed the latest political and security developments, in addition to regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Al-Alimi praised the ongoing partnership between the two countries, expressing his appreciation for the recent international stance in the emergency session of the Security Council, which clearly condemned Iranian interventions and their violation of Yemeni sovereignty through supporting the Houthi group, in blatant defiance of UN resolutions, foremost of which is Resolution (2216).
Al-Alimi stressed that the government’s steps stem from its legal and moral responsibility as a member of the United Nations, emphasizing the legitimacy’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty without being dragged into expanding confrontations away from its primary battle to restore the state.
He explained that the government has never closed Sana’a airport, but has rather offered legal alternatives and facilities to operate it through Yemenia Airways. However, the Houthis rejected these solutions due to their insistence on using the airport as a tool to impose a fait accompli and utilizing it to serve their leaders and families at the expense of the citizens’ interests.
He pointed out that the Houthi group deliberately flees from peace tracks and unleashes a crisis-ridden rhetoric to blackmail the international community.
