Fire Breaks Out on Wooden Ship at Mu’alla Port in Aden, Firefighting Teams Bring It Under Control

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
A fire broke out today on one of the wooden ships (traditional dhows/sambuks) at Mu’alla Port in the temporary capital, Aden, as smoke columns rose from the scene. The cause of the blaze was not immediately known.
Local sources said that civil defense teams, in coordination with security agencies, the coast guard, and relevant authorities, managed to bring the fire under control and extinguish it after towing the damaged wooden vessel to the port quay, which helped prevent the flames from spreading to nearby boats and facilities.
The sources explained that the response operation was carried out under the supervision of Aden Governor Abdulrahman Sheikh and the Executive Director of the Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation, Mohammed Alawi Amzarbah, with the participation of Mu’alla Port security administration and a number of port workers.
They noted that the efforts of emergency teams contributed to containing the fire and averting greater losses. Meanwhile, the administration of the Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation directed the formation of a committee to investigate the causes of the incident and submit a report on the findings and necessary measures.
