Following Travelers’ Complaints of Extortion, 14 Employees Transferred from Al-Wadiah Border Crossing; Suspects Referred for Investigation

Yemeni Immigration, Passports, and Nationality Authority has announced urgent disciplinary measures against a number of personnel at the Al-Wadiah land border crossing, including the transfer of 14 officers and staff members, following complaints of illegal practices, including the extortion of travelers and the collection of unauthorized payments.

The authority said the decision was taken in response to complaints alleging misconduct at the border crossing, stressing that it will not tolerate any actions that violate citizens’ rights or damage the reputation of the institution.

It added that any employee found to have abused their public position or unlawfully collected money from travelers will be referred to the relevant authorities for legal action, with no exceptions.

The authority also urged citizens to report any violations or misconduct they encounter, reaffirming its commitment to promoting integrity, transparency, and the proper functioning of Yemeni border crossing points.
