Hadramawt Governor Reviews Preparations for Fifth International Medical Conference at Hadramawt University

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Hadramawt , Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, reviewed on Saturday the ongoing preparations for the Fifth International Medical Conference, which will be organized by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Hadramawt University in the eastern Yemeni city of Mukalla.
According to the local authority’s official Facebook page, the conference will be held on December 9–10, 2026, under the theme:
“Cancer: The Health Reality, Challenges, and Scientific Prospects.”
The update came during a meeting in Al-Khanbashi’s office with the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Professor Saleh Awad Bahoul, who outlined the key arrangements being made to ensure the conference’s success.
Bahoul said the conference will bring together medical experts, consultants, and academics from Yemen and abroad to discuss the latest scientific and medical developments related to cancer. Participants will also examine the current healthcare situation, existing challenges, and future opportunities for advancing the health sector and medical research.
During the meeting, Al-Khanbashi also reviewed progress on the national academic accreditation process for the university’s Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program. He was briefed on the completion of the program’s self-assessment study, which is being prepared for submission to the Council for Academic Accreditation, Quality Assurance, and Higher Education.
Hadramawt governor emphasized the importance of supporting scientific and academic initiatives that contribute to improving the healthcare sector and enhancing the quality of medical education and research. He praised the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences for organizing scientific conferences and pursuing academic accreditation.
Al-Khanbashi said these efforts would have a positive impact on the quality of healthcare services and the training of medical professionals in Hadramawt and across Yemen.
