Aden: Dozens Arrested in Drug-Related and Criminal Cases

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Police in Aden have announced a series of security operations that resulted in the arrest of a suspect in a knife assault case, another suspect allegedly involved in a string of burglaries targeting commercial shops, and dozens of individuals accused in drug-related offenses across several districts of the city.

According to the police, security forces arrested a suspect accused of stabbing a qat vendor at the Al-Tawahi market before fleeing the scene. The arrest followed an investigation and pursuit operation that ended with the suspect being taken into custody and placed in detention pending the completion of legal procedures.

In a separate operation, Cairo District Police arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for a series of thefts targeting several commercial establishments. The arrest came after surveillance and detailed investigations conducted in coordination with the relevant security authorities.

As part of ongoing anti-drug efforts, the Anti-Narcotics Department and the National Security agency carried out raids and security campaigns that resulted in the arrest of 20 suspects on charges of possessing, trafficking, and using narcotic substances, including cannabis (hashish) and the prohibited drug pregabalin tablets.

These arrests come amid a noticeable increase in drug-related cases in Aden. According to security data, authorities have arrested 31 suspects in drug-related offenses during four separate operations carried out in less than two weeks, as part of a broader security plan aimed at dismantling drug trafficking and distribution networks.
