They confirmed that investigations are still ongoing to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the General Administration of Security and Police in the Hadramawt Coast said that specialized security and forensic teams launched an immediate investigation following the incident. Field inspections and forensic examinations were carried out with the participation of explosives experts and technical teams from the Second Military Region.
According to the preliminary investigation, the explosion that targeted Aydhah was caused by a locally manufactured improvised explosive device (IED) that had been attached beneath the driver’s front seat inside the vehicle. The device was remotely detonated while he was inside the car, causing critical injuries that later proved fatal.
The statement added that forensic and criminal investigation teams had collected a number of physical and technical pieces of evidence from the scene. These are currently being analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation to identify the perpetrators and those involved in planning and carrying out the attack.
Security authorities said they had made progress in tracing the leads in the case, emphasizing that those responsible would not escape justice. The Hadramawt Coast Security and Police Command condemned the assassination, describing it as a serious crime targeting the security and stability of society. It also expressed its condolences to the family of the late journalist and to his colleagues in the media community.
The General Administration of Security and Police called on media outlets and social media users to verify information before publishing and to refrain from spreading rumors or unconfirmed reports that could interfere with the investigation.
