Yemeni Government Stresses Priority of Anti-Corruption Efforts

Yemen’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaya Al-Zindani, said on Tuesday that combating corruption is a national priority requiring the concerted efforts of all state institutions, reaffirming the government’s continued implementation of financial and administrative reforms to enhance transparency and oversight.
His remarks came during a meeting in Aden with the Chairperson of the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption, Judge Afrah Badweilan. The two sides discussed the level of coordination between the government and the authority, as well as efforts to develop the national integrity system and mechanisms for preventing corruption.
Al-Zindani affirmed the government’s commitment to providing an appropriate environment for oversight bodies to carry out their duties independently and efficiently. For her part, Badweilan reviewed the authority’s workflow, plans, programs, and the challenges it faces, in addition to the measures taken in receiving reports and investigating corruption cases in accordance with the law.
The meeting also explored ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides to help entrench the principles of good governance and strengthen citizens’ trust in state institutions.
