Security Tensions in Socatra Following Armed Attack on Saudi Forces by Gunmen Loyal to The “STC”

Local sources in the Socatra Archipelago province, southern Yemen, reported on Sunday that gunmen loyal to the Southern Transitional Council (STC) opened fire on Saudi duty forces stationed at Holaf Port.
The sources told “Yemen Monitor” that armed elements belonging to the STC, led by a person named “Haitham Al-Miliji,” opened fire towards the Saudi forces stationed at the port and are involved in hijacking a fuel truck (diesel) belonging to coalition forces.
The sources stated that the Governor of Socatra, Raafat Al-Thaqli, left the island for Riyadh after being summoned by coalition forces, traveling on board a military cargo plane heading to Saudi Arabia.
The sources confirmed the arrest of special forces leader “Haitham Qasim Al-Saqdali” (Abu Bajash), along with two other commanders, in addition to two citizens identified as Ayman Hammoud Al-Yafei and Mohammed Abdel Halim Al-Soqatri, without knowing the reasons behind these arrests.
