Mukalla Teachers Protest: Demands for Dismissal of Education Officials and Rights Reform

Yemen Monitor / Mukalla / Newsroom:

Teachers held a protest this morning in the city of Mukalla, the capital of Hadramawt Governorate, demanding the dismissal of several officials from the Education Bureau in the Hadramawt Coast and Mukalla districts, and calling for an immediate response to their legal and professional demands.

Participants raised slogans emphasizing that meeting teachers’ needs is vital, as they are the cornerstone of the educational process. They stressed the necessity of improving their living conditions and guaranteeing their rights.

Protest organizers noted that the event was entirely peaceful, with no reports of assaults or the use of water cannons—marking a shift from previous protests held during the tenure of former Governor Mabkhout bin Madi.

The protesters expressed their gratitude to the local authority, currently led by Dr. Salem al-Khanbashi, affirming their hope for a serious response to their demands to ensure the stability of the educational process and better serve the students of the governorate.
