Hadramout Inclusive Conference: Economic Collapse Has Reached Its Peak, Self-Rule Is an Irreversible Option

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The General Secretariat of the Hadramout Inclusive Conference, during its meeting in the city of Mukalla, issued a strong warning regarding what it described as the “total collapse” of economic and service conditions in Hadramout. It affirmed that self-rule has become an urgent national necessity and represents an irreversible, collective Hadrami will.
The meeting, chaired by Secretary-General Judge Akram Naseeb Al-Amri, discussed a range of political and organizational issues and reviewed the work plan for the next phase. However, it dwelled extensively on the severe deterioration suffered by the governorate on various fronts, from currency collapse and delayed salaries to rising prices of basic goods and deteriorating services, primarily electricity, despite fuel availability.
The General Secretariat accused state authorities of “indifference” and “lack of political will” in implementing vital decisions concerning the governorate. It considered this failure to exacerbate the suffering of citizens and fuel feelings of discontent, demanding immediate action from the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to implement radical solutions that ensure the minimum requirements for life.
The conference held the Yemeni presidency responsible for the deterioration of services, demanding that the people of Hadramout be empowered to manage their own affairs, in accordance with the outcomes of the Hadramout Inclusive Conference and the consensus of tribal and civil forces in the governorate.
It warned that continued disregard for the legitimate demands of the people of Hadramout “will inevitably lead to escalating tension and threatening stability,” calling for broad and organized Hadrami action to reclaim rights and achieve self-rule as a guarantee for the governorate’s stability and development.
